Exploring the idea of art as commodity, Modern Nail Art combines the craft skill of the miniature painter with that of the beautician, bringing us the ultimate and intimate expression of personalised individualism. Alison Kershaw's Abstract Nail Art stall at Grizedale Arts' Coniston Christmas Farmers Market and Art Fair in December 2011 featured a real nail artist who reproduced classic Abstract Expressionist paintings on visitors' fingernails. In a twist to a very 21st Century folk art phenomenon, Kershaw has introduced a new limited design catalogue to the Nail Art Market.
