In March 2012 artist Arabel Rosillo de Blas and 20 enthusiastic local people created lace on a scale never seen before. Participants became human pins and bobbins in an active afternoon that was part craft, part choreography as one participant noted, like horizontal maypole dancing. Part of Bedford Creative Arts' spring commission Lace in Place, inspired by the rich history of lace making in Bedford. Arabel collaborated with a wide range of local people to create a large lace sculpture which will adorn the derelict building at 1 St Pauls Square in Bedford's town centre throughout the summer.
