Cornerhouse is Manchester's international centre for contemporary visual arts and independent film. Located on Oxford Road, Cornerhouse houses three floors of contemporary art galleries, three screens showing the best of independent cinema, a bar, cafe and a bookshop and we receive around 500,000 visitors every year.
Beatboxer and vocal sculptor Jason Singh, performed a live vocal score to the 1929 silent film Drifters at Cornerhouse in October 2011. Using techniques of pre-recorded vocal sequences, live vocal processing and sampling, Jason created a sonic backdrop of ambient textures, experimental atmospheres and rhythms created solely by the use of the voice to accompany the film.
